OK, now that we know what flavor of ice cream Eli Manning REALLY likes and that Tom Brady has an admirer (she even showed-up to his press conference wearing a wedding gown), it’s time to gear-up for the big game…the Super Bowl.
This year’s Super Bowl will be played at the two-year-old University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The contestants: the New York Giants and the New England Patriots. Basically, New York and Boston…in Arizona. Hmm…but anyhoo, the Giants played the role of road warriors during the playoffs, winning at Tampa Bay, at Dallas, and at Green Bay (the latter in overtime) to earn their way to the big dance. Their last loss, ironically, was against these very New England Patriots 38-35 in week 17 of the regular year. That win was huge in the history of the New England franchise in that it propelled them to a 16-0 regular season record, a feat not previously accomplished in the 16-game format. They are now 18-0 (in uncharted waters) by way of their playoff wins at home against Jacksonville and San Diego. I have to give props to the biggest chump coach in Cleveland Browns history, Bill Belicheck, because somehow in New England, he became one of the best coaches in NFL history.
As far as who will win, it’s hard to say. There is a reason they play the game and just don’t award the “better” team on paper the Vince Lombardi Trophy. The New York Giants played a whale of a game against the Pats in late December – and almost won, until the last full drive. So does that mean the Giants will win ? I’m afraid not. As much as I’d like to see BeliCHOKE lose a Super Bowl, I don’t believe they will. I’m taking the Patriots.
