North Canton Hoover running back Erick Howard won the Ohio Mr. Football Award for 2008. He won the award as a junior, an accomplishment only matched once Euclid’s Robert Smith.
Howard rushed for 1795 yards and 25 TDs. He also had 527 receiving yards to go with 3 receiving TDs. He was also a linebacker on defense, where he had 2 INT, 3 sacks, forced 2 fumbles, and had six tacles for loss.
Next year, Howard is going to be bigger, faster, and a senior. Barring injury, I don’t see why he couldn’t do it again.
