The Democratic primary for state representative in the 41st district is tomorrow, as well as those for state offices in both parties. The one I’m interested in is the former, though. Conservative Democrat John Atkins, who held the 41st district seat from 2002-2007, is facing off against contender Barbara Lifflander, who lost to Atkins in previous campaigns when he ran as a Republican.
John Atkins is clearly the best man for the job. He accomplished a lot while he was in Legislative Hall for his constituents. I know a lot of the prognosticators predict an Atkins win tomorrow and in November for Atkins – and I hope they’re right – but many folks (no names please, Jud Bennett) won’t be too happy about it.
I fully expect to be making a congratulatory phone call tomorrow evening to John Atkins, winner of the Democratic nomination. And after the November election, if the prognosticators are correct, I would expect those who will be upset about his election to congratulate him. And I would welcome them to do so on this forum.
There are also other statewide offices in both parties having primaries tomorrow, including the gubernatorial primary. I would urge the folks in the state of Delaware to get out and vote tomorrow.
