Uh…Where’s Rover ?

I turned on 92.3 K Rock on this morning, expecting to hear the recap of Friday’s Rover’s Morning Glory, only to hear Opie and Anthony.  I know that Rover (Shane French), Duji (Susan Catanese), and (Dominic) Dieter all had contracts coming due, and it sounds as if that’s their motivation.  However, my understanding is that the management at CBS Radio has been trying to low-ball their contracts, actually asking them to take pay cuts…especially after taking a 32 share in the most recent Arbitron ratings (the next morning show competitor garnered a 9 share). 

The only thing I can figure is that they were taken off due to the contract issue.  It’s a shame that things could not be worked out between the hosts of the top morning show in Cleveland, according to the listeners and the ratings. 

Now I guess I have to go back to the WNIR morning show that, other than Maggie Fuller and Steve French, is the same joke over and over and over…

Youns guys will be sorely missed, Rover, Duji, Dieter, DJ Jazzy Jim, and Dumb.

UPDATE: Rover posted on his blog that he is not allowed to talk about ANYTHING regarding the contract or what has happened with CBS Radio, or regarding anything in the future (his or otherwise). They even more-or-less have control of his website ! I was listening this morning, and “Nard” the program director at WKRK (or whatever their call letters are this week) says that he turned down their “considerably” higher offer. From what Rover has said, CBS Radio has low-balled the hosts from day one.

All I know is I went through a morning show withdrawal this morning without RMG on this morning. I tried a couple different shows this morning…from the geriatric “Mud, Mihalik, and Mike” on WNCX, DeLuca on 92.5 in Canton, and I even gave Opie and Anthony a chance. None of them compare, in my opinion, to how funny RMG was.

Here’s hoping RMG comes back on the air. I don’t care if it’s on WMMS, WKRK, WHBC, or wherever…
